His latest book, The Road: a story of Romans and ways to the past was published in 2023 by William Collins to critical and popular acclaim -- shooting it into the best-seller lists. His previous book, the much-loved Hollow Places: an unusual history of land and legend, was published in 2019 and was a Sunday Times book of the year.
